Job Summary
The Director of MICE will manage andprovide day-to-day leadership to the MICE Team, respectively. As such, theDirector of MICE is responsible for an effective lead conversion process,including steps such as enquiry handling, preparation of proposals, quotations,checking product information and customer requirements.
This role also involves working closelywith the Business Development Team to develop expertise in understanding sectorial/customerneeds, as well as Revenue Management to maximize lead conversion and driveincremental revenue.
·Develop deepunderstanding and knowledge of key sectors targeted by hotel and ensureproducts and services are ahead of competition to maximise lead conversion rate
·Ensure the timelyfollow up and pursuit of business with customers and stakeholders in order todrive the highest levels of conversion
·Contribute activelyto the compilation of annual business plan and strategic sales & marketingplans
·Conduct and/or assistSales team in customer negotiation process
·Conduct proposalnegotiation process and assist Business Development team where necessary
·Handle contractsigning process
·Update lead status inrelevant systems and communicates lead status to relevant Business Developmentstaff (e.g. account owner)
·Participate in thepreparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans.Monitor budget and up sell products and services while minimising waste toincrease revenue
·Process customerinquiries in accordance to specified service standards
·Develop and deliverrelevant documentation to the customer (e.g. proposal, contract)
·Prepare and deliversite inspections, entertainment, familiarisations and other eventsfor potential customers (when necessary); ensure all details of meetings andconventions are in compliance with hotel standards, including room set-ups,staging, lighting, audio-visual, traffic flow, menus, décor, entertainment,group room blocks, transportation, billing instructions and VIP services
·Identify operationalproblems that reduce the effectiveness of marketing activities and overallhotel sales performance and work with appropriate department on solutions
·Develop awareness andreputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community
·Direct day to dayconference/convention activities, plan and assign work, and establishperformance and development goals for team members
·Provide effectiveleadership to fulfilment and teams, including the ability to direct activitiesaccording to the relevant detailed SOPs
·Communicate to his/her superior any issues encountered and other relevant information
·Organise trainingsessions, daily briefings and other meetings as required; ensure staff has thetools, training and equipment to carry out job duties
·Conduct periodicformal reviews with the MICE Team on their targets and goals
·Conduct AnnualPerformance reviews, set Key Performance Objectives and Personal Developmentplans in line with IHG standards and brand standards for each member of theteam
·Recommend and/orinitiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resource-related actionsin accordance with hotel or company rules and policies
·Act as escalationpoint for clients and members of the MICE Team and provide resolution to issues
Ideally, you'll have
Degree or Diploma. A minimum of one year of relevant experience orequivalent work experience in team management, and 2 – 5 years of relevant experiencein customer relations in Hospitality or a related service industry, F&B/Banquet Operations experience preferred.
·Experience andknowledge of establishing and mentoring an office based sales team
·Experience to RoomDivision function
·Good communicationand negotiation skills
·Ability to takeinitiative, adapt to change, meet deadlines and commitments, and complete tasksand projects as required.
·Strong organizingskills and planning skills
·A high level ofknowledge pertaining to policy and procedure and communicates knowledgeeffectively to all personnel when applicable.
·Demonstrates clearand effective verbal and written skills for the purpose of obtaining andconveying information to clients, technicians, management and team members aswell as producing reports
·Excellent PC skills(including MS Office)
