Position Summary
This role supports Senior Director, M&E in providing design quality assurance and design auditing services on new build and conversion projects including franchised and managed projects. The Manager is responsible for managing MEP system to ensure that the design meets the brand standards and can give optimized MEP system. The specific responsibility includes but not limited to a review of drawings in all disciplines incorporating the operational aspects, and site visits to hotels under construction. The Manager should have operational knowledge on the hotel and resort so that he or she can provide comprehensive comments on every area of the project. The Manager needs to be a team player and a proactive communicator.
Responsibilities
Design review of MEP at critical stages with ability to correlate it with landscape architecture, architecture, interior design, structure, laundry facility design, support Owner’s consultants on MEP related questions, periodic construction site inspections, technical support to Pre-opening and Operation teams.
Once any deal is executed, contact Owner to request for current MEP design to understand status of design process in preparation for kick-off meeting. Participate and lead Wyndham Standard MEP introduction part.
Proactively establish a good working relationship with Owner’s chief engineer.
At each design phase, obtain a full set of MEP related drawings and specifications, conduct design review to verify compliance with WHR’s MEP brand standards. If non-compliant, to lead communication to guide Owner and consultants to achieve compliance. Subsequently, report internally to SD, MEP on whether identified issues are rectified.
Always coordinate operational aspects into MEP design. Frequent communication with Operations team for required feedback.
Evaluate MEP design submitted by a hotel owner to ensure compliance with Brand Standards for building engineering systems and products. Evaluate and periodically update existing MEP standards for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, lighting, power, fire alarm and low voltage systems.
Identify issues for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, lighting, power, fire alarm and low voltage system in mock-up rooms.
PIP- Provide condition assessments for conversions of existing hotels or buildings. Travel to proposed sites, evaluate engineering systems, prepare technical reports, and assist in preparing cost estimates for upgrades and maintenance to brand standards.
Coordinate with other internal departments (Pre-opening, Operations, IT, Sales).
Conduct site walks to ensure construction process is following design documents and brand standards. During site inspections, identify any system mistakes (installation, testing etc) and provide rectification suggestions to Owners and consultants. Submit analytical report with photographic evidence and recommendations to Owner and consultants after each site inspection.
Once a hotel chief engineer is on board, communicate with him/her for updates and provide on-site support as needed.
During a punch-out process, lead the engineering effort in collaboration with hotel chief engineer and advise Pre-Opening and Operations team on best strategy for each property.
Meet with equipment and system vendors to understand latest products and systems. Collect initial set-up costs and long term life cycle costs for engineering products and systems for internal resource library.
Must be able to travel extensively, as the job requires.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Degree in MEP (HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing) from an accredited college or university. Prefer to be HVAC, Electrical.
Fluent in Mandarin and preferably English too.
3 - 5 years progressive post qualification experience at Hotel Company.
Frequent Travel required within Greater China (up to 50% of time).

Good MEP design skills.
Good technical and project management skills.
Computer skills: experience in specific software such as AutoCAD, word processing, project scheduling.
